So I got a kindle fire so my girlfriend would have something to use at school to check e-mail, watch video, and play games. Naturally I had it shipped to my office so I could play with it first and get it setup for her. Every time I use a Android based device I can help but notice that apps are not as good as the ones I can get on my iOS devices. For $200 the kindle fire does make for a great Netflix and Amazon Prime Video on Demand device. The web browser is decent even if most sites redirect it to the mobile version and I’m sure more apps are on there way. Few things that bug me about the Fire: no physical volume keys, lock screen password always comes up right away, no way to clear out items from the home screen, and the built-in e-mail app lacks calendar and contacts integration.
